GQ: The 7 Biggest Style Mistakes Guys Make & How To Fix Them

Okay men, if you don’t have the money (due to the recession stricken economy) OR you just don’t purchase magazines (for whatever reason. . . they’re one of the best forms of journalism still around) I wanted to present to you a fundamental style piece that is featured in the Oct. ’09 issue of GQ Magazine (plus it has Olivia Wilde on the cover. . . I’ll wait for you to get back from the store).

“The Seven Style Mistakes We’ve All Made (and How to Correct Them)” offers advice to men who just don’t know any better about what they’re wearing. No one’s judging your sense of style because we’ve all fallen short of the GQ potential we should all ascribe to uphold to the highest, but judging or not some fashion flubs should NOT be taking place. Here are the seven problems (.jpeg via Hilary Walsh):

#7: The Oversize Suit

#6: Right Suit, Wrong Belt

#5: The Pancake Collar
gq5

#4: Sagging Suit Pants
gq4

#3: The Cheap Printed Tie
gq3

#2: The Barack Obama Jeans (*side-eye at that)
gq2

#1: The Schlumpy Leather Jacket

Visit GQ’s website for an explanation of the problems and the must-take-heed-to solutions. I see so much of 2-5 & 7 here on my college campus it’s ridiculous. Although I’m guilty of being a 20-year-old man who doesn’t own a suit trust and believe that my 1st one will not be oversized. . . it will be tailored and slim. No. 7 is my biggest pet peeve of all time. . . a too big suit is not stylish. At all.
