Say what you will about Kanye West, his relationship with Kim K. and the fact that (maybe) his mental state has become more questionable since his mother’s death but you can’t deny the fact that he has cultivated the most dominating brand hip-hop has ever seen. If the future is to be televised, DONDA (West’s creative company) is without a doubt your cable service provider and they’re on every channel. Question is, will you be watching?
The G.O.O.D. Music camp sat down with Complex Magazine to shoot the cover of the August/September 2012 issue and discuss Kanye’s role in each of their lives and careers. How epic is it that West got your favorite uncles (Q-Tip & Common), weird cousins (Cyhi the Prince, Kid Cudi, and D’Banj), siblings (Big Sean, Pusha T, Hit-boy, Teyanna Taylor, and 2 Chainz), and the in-laws fam that never seemed to fit in (John Legend & Mr. Hudson) to one big ass family reunion? The music group will be releasing their first album, Cruel Summer, this month.
Somebody pass me the potato salad cause I’m geeked!
Interviewer Noah Callahan-Bever asked What does G.O.O.D. Music mean to you? John Legend replied:
“That creativity, that attention to detail, that quality control—that’s what distinguishes us from other folks who might just be chasing a hit.”
Check out the behind-the-scenes video below and get a first look of the photos to be featured in the upcoming issue. Teyana Taylor wasn’t present for the shoot — sad face because I know she and Mr. Hudson would’ve turned it. Also, get into Kid Cudi’s new permed, feathered hi-top ‘do.
