I don’t know, maybe it’s a new journalistic practice I’m not privy to. Just last week the New York Post mixed up R&B singers Keri Hilson and Mary J. Blige.

I just found the ever so beautiful and stylish, BritPopPrincess on YouTube. In one of her recent videos the London gal gives ladies a few lessons on how to wear chinos and high waisted pants. She transforms her look in various forms with the same pair of chinos.

Check out The UNC Clef Hangers, Carolina’s oldest a capella group, perform Young Jeezy’s “Put On” and Lil’ Wayne & T-Pain’s “Got Money”. I don’t know what gets me more, the vests with all the flair, the loafers, or the melodies these guys arranged to produce this.

Either who, this is boss talent. Oh, and don’t miss a beat with the choreography.

Chris “Preauxx” Dansby released his second mixtape Love Jones Sunday, February 27. The Memphis-based rapper put on a show at Hi-Tone Cafe performing songs from both his first mixtape and new. Preauxx delivered witty wordplay and infectious beats to a packed house.

As a friend, I’m proud of him. As an artist, I support him.

In between classes and work Preauxx announced that he will be releasing a CD soon. While his charm still appeals to the local scene, his dedication will land him in the view of the pros soon enough.

I enjoyed her as she discussed the responsibility of “us”, as a minority, as a human to stand up and speak out for what we believed in. She also encouraged the attendees to measure success by how one who serves others when there is a need present rather than the amount in one’s bank account. O’Brien’s thoughts on Martin Luther King, Jr. and leadership were the hallmarks of her presentation.

I had the opportunity to walk and talk backstage with her. After small talk I handed her my business card (I had to tackily scratch and rewrite some contact information. For shame, I know.). It’s quite apparent that her and I formed a warm relationship, therefore; I will now refer to her as Solee.

This segment of Style in a Split Second features Heather M. in a pair of gray Forever21 Clark Distressed Boots. Styled with a pair of jeggings (the love child of jeans and leggings), a pink and brown printed blouse and a white cardigan Heather looks prepared for unforeseen adventure.

Don’t let the crochet knit details distract you, those boots were made for walking and that’s exactly what they’ll do.

Clarence Simpson, a senior Communications major is in the process of building his portfolio to work alongside a “big name” in fashion. In doing so, he’s cultivating a show that displays men of various ethnicities with a “different look but pure face”.

I was present at the first fitting for what he calls The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

My role model (don’t judge me) Kanye West finally released the video for his latest single “All of the Lights”. Hmm… what to say? I’m a fan of Hype Williams but this video took me so may places. I loved the beginning with the little girl and when the flashing of neon words started to flood in my mind immediately went to the “Good Life” video.

Rihanna was a work of art as always. However, I’m not sure if the video quite hit me like I was expecting it to. Nonetheless, creative genius at work.
